Jim Slaton is an independent melodic house and deep house producer based in Los Angeles, California.
Working entirely on his own releases, he writes and produces music built around warm low ends, rolling grooves, and melodies with a story inside them — tracks made for late-night listening and the dance floor. Jim’s music serves as an open, sonic diary. By framing deeply personal narratives within driving 4×4 beats with heavy bassline grooves.
His catalogue, including more than a dozen songs on Apple Music, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other streaming platforms worldwide. His latest release, "DanDeelion Dreams," is a true story set to a melodic house track.
About Jim
I’m Jim Slaton—a native Texan producing melodic and deep house music, currently based out of Los Angeles, California.
Most of my tracks start the same way: with a feeling I can’t shake and a melody that arrives right along with it. From there, I build a warm low end, a driving groove, and plenty of space for the melody to breathe. If a track doesn’t move me, it doesn’t go out. At the end of the day, a dance track has to make you move, but a melodic track has to leave you with something.
I work independently, releasing my music directly to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and streaming platforms worldwide through LANDR. There’s no label and no committee—what you hear is simply the track the way I heard it first.
“DanDeelion Dreams” is the most personal example of that approach. It’s a true story (mine), and the spelling is deliberate: “Dee” is right there in the title, the same way she is in the song and everywhere else. Dee is special. Dee is a Singer, music producer and the inspiration for nearly every song I’ve ever written.
